Tarsar Marsar Trek is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is known for its stunning beauty, alpine meadows, and glistening lakes. The trek is located in the Himalayan region and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The trek begins in the small village of Aru and takes you through the lush green forests and pristine meadows. As you climb higher, you will come across two glistening lakes, Tarsar and Marsar, which are the main highlights of the trek. These two lakes are located at an altitude of around 4,000 meters and are surrounded by towering peaks and rolling meadows.
The alpine meadows on the Tarsar Marsar Trek are a sight to behold. They are carpeted with a blanket of wildflowers in a rainbow of colors, making the trek even more beautiful. TARSAR MARSAR TREK HIGHLIGHTS:

FITNESS LEVEL: This hike is suitable for people who can hike comfortably upto 10-15km per day on an average of 5-7hours of walking in a day with some steep terrain. Highest Altitude we will be hiking is less than 4100meters with some unforgettable breath-taking views. A memory which will last you like a lifetime experience.
BEST TIME TO VISIT:
The best time to visit Tarsar Marsar Trek is during the months of June to September. During this time, the weather is ideal for trekking as it is dry, warm and there is low risk of rain and snow. The meadows and alpine flowers are also in full bloom, providing a stunning view of the surrounding landscape. However, it is always advisable to check the local weather conditions and be prepared for sudden changes, as the weather in the high-altitude regions of Kashmir can be unpredictable.

DAY 1: Drive from Srinagar to Aru (D)
Arrival in Srinagar & Drive to Aru Valley After your flight, you will be driven to Aru Valley, Pahalgam, which takes approximately 3.5 hours. You will be staying at a beautiful camping site in the village, where you can rest and get ready for the upcoming adventure.
DAY 2: Trek from Aru to Lidderwat (B, L, D) – Altitude gains up to: 2785M.
Trek from Aru to Lidderwat Today marks the start of your trek, as you embark on a journey from Aru to Lidderwat, covering a distance of 8 km. The walk takes around 5-6 hours, and the first part of the trail is not too steep. The path goes through a pine forest, and you will end the day by camping next to a stream.
DAY 3: Trek from Lidderwat to Shekwas (B, L, D) – Altitude gains up to: 3365M.
Trek from Lidderwat to Shekwas On the third day, you will trek from Lidderwat to Shekwas, covering a distance of 6 km. The trek will take around 6-7 hours, and you will pass through a pine forest. The trail will take you to a grassy mountain zone, and you will camp in an open space in the valley.
DAY 4: Trek from Shekwas to Tarsar (B, L, D) – Altitude gains up to: 3780M.
Trek from Shekwas to Tarsar On the fourth day, you will trek from Shekwas to Tarsar, which is only 4 km away. The trek takes approximately 2-3 hours, and you will finally reach the Tarsar Lake. You will spend the night camping near the lake.
DAY 5: Trek from Tarsar to Sundersar (B, L, D) – Altitude gains up to: 3945M.
Trek from Tarsar to Sundersar On the fifth day, you will trek from Tarsar to Sundersar, covering a distance of 6 km. You will first need to cross the ridge that blocks the Tarsar Lake, which takes around 1 hour. After crossing the pass, you will walk down to Sundersar Lake, where you will spend the night camping.
DAY 6: Trek from Sundersar to Homwas (B, L, D) – Altitude gains up to: 4012M.
Trek from Sundersar to Homwas Today, you will trek from Sundersar to Homwas, covering a distance of 9 km. You will pass the Marsar Lake, and the camping site will be different from the first day.
DAY 7: Trek from Homwas to Aru. Drive to Srinagar (B, L, D)
Trek from Homwas to Aru and Drive to Srinagar on the seventh day, you will make your way back to Aru Valley, covering a distance of 13 km. You will retrace your steps back through the valley and arrive in Srinagar around 7 pm. You will check into your accommodation, relax, and celebrate the end of your trek before departing the next day.
DAY 8: Depart to Home Country. End of adventure. (B)
Departure On the final day, you will depart for the airport and fly back to your home country. It has been an unforgettable journey, and we hope you will cherish the memories for years to come.

Many airlines offer the option of rescheduling flights at no extra cost, so it is advisable to take advantage of this when planning your trek.
